As part of the study on the growing popularity of Filipino stories on the internet, specifically romance novels, this contest has been established to recognize who among the online writers may be considered the best.
PRESENTING the very first Search for the BEST ONLINE FILIPINO NOVEL WRITER of 2009! (Brought to you by Filipino Novels Online Association, headed by Associate Professor in Filipino Edgar Allan Rabanza)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have posted at least one (1) complete story online
- 18 years old and above
- Only romance novels are accepted at the moment
HOW TO JOIN:
- You will be personally invited through email should we find your novels competitive, OR
- You may email your Bio-Data/resume to earabanza@gmail.com, together with the link of your stories, the title and your pen name. (Please indicate your real name on your resume).
- Your stories will be reviewed and you will receive a notification through email if you were qualified.
CRITERIA:
- Originality of the story – 15%
- Romantic Touch – 15%
- Realistic approach of plots and events – 10%
- Technical Skill (inc. grammar and punctuations) – 10%
- Unique Characterization – 10%
- Smooth and Effective Delivery – 20%
- Entertainment Value – 10%
- Online votes (will start on January 15, 2010) – 10%
PRIZE:
- Winner of this contest will receive a cash prize of FIVE THOUSAND PESOS (5,000 pesos), a certificate and will be featured on the study about the Growing Popularity of Filipino Novels Online.
**This contest will run until January 23, 2010. Winner will be posted on January 24, 2010.
THE JUDGES FOR THIS CONTEST ARE THE FOLLOWING:
Albert Loyola – Comics Artist/animation director
EA Rabanza – Associate Professor in Filipino
Celeste Francisco – romance novel writer
Evelyn Agpaoa – Filipino teacher
Mary Rose Olivares – Story Critic/local newspaper writer
*Nominees were carefully chosen by the judges assigned on a particular website. Some applied personally and some were nominated by their friends and readers. A list of more than 20 authors was discussed thoroughly, trimming it down to 15. Notices were then sent to the qualified authors. 3 withdrew, 2 were disqualified for some reasons. That brings us the final 10.

Ganyan ngayon ang nangyayari dito. Sa halos lahat ng mga contest, may mga ganyang pangyayari. So if you decide to join a contest, you have to learn to handle the pressure.

@Garnet Heart. You may think that quitting this contest saves you from all these mess, but you’re wrong. Quitting is a very immature decision especially for one like you. You are a great writer and you’ve gained the respect of many readers and other filipino novel websites kaya asahan mo na marami ang maiinggit at maninira sa’yo. Actually, those are evidences that you are becoming a threat to others, and at thesame time, it proves your success as a writer. You have to learn to know yourself better and take those criticisms maturely. Just a piece of advise from another writer.

Maganda na ring mapapaaga ang announcement ng winner, masyado na umiinit ang batuhan ng mga salita para sa mga manok, its not worthy for the 10% criteria. Healthy competition mang maituturing ay hindi rin nagiging maganda ang kinalalabasan. Lalo lang sumisidhi ang di pagkakaunawaan ng mga pocketbook site. Aaminin ko, not all pocketbook site ay magkakasundo, lalo lang lalala dahil dito.
Anyway, salamat sa mga supporter. Nakakataba ng pusong malaman na ganito n’yo kami kamahal (Internet Serye, FRN, YSH, TOP atbp.)
Sana magkaisa na alang tayo.. para wala na away, share readers.. walang siraan.. parepareho naman tayong pilipino eh. At ang mga readers, pare-parehong nagke-crave sa stories yan kaya hindi dapat sakalin na huwag magbasa sa iba. Share readers po para walang hidwaang ganito.
Nagpapasalamat din ako at may organisasyon nang nagre-recognize ng effort naming mga online writer. Thanks talaga.

Guys, wag kayong mag-isip ng kababalaghan tungkol sa voting. Ang sistema kasi niyan percentaging, simpleng addition lang yan, kung ito-total niyo lahat per author 100% ang lalabas. Kaya kung may nagboto para sa isa, a-adjust talaga lahat. Halimbawa 100 na tao pa lang ang bumuboto at 17 ang bumoto kay Garnet Heart 17% ang lalabas na boto niya gano’n lang po iyon kasimple.

Meron pa po kasing isang nobelista ang gustong magparticipate na writer doon sa FRN. Ang name po kasi niya ay Ces Adriano. I think interesado siya na sumali. I used to be a tagalog romance writer here on wordpress, not to brag but i get some good comments. I got about 6,000 hits in two months but it was a month ago when i remove my blog (some personal reason)
Now I’m taking my time to review my written novels before I self-publish but I find this contest interesting. Can someone join without having a blog or website?
